Part-Time Skin Care Production: Possibly the "Most Amazing Job Making Things" Ever

    Is this you?

    - You have an eye for detail, a desire for excellence. Are you good at measuring? Do you love to see a finished product?

    - Maybe you have experience in a commercial kitchen? Or you have a curious mind for science?

    - You’re all about the details. You like to work efficiently and accurately. You have an eye for the big picture and prioritize the details and get them right. No one has to check your work.

This job isn’t all unicorns and rainbows, there’s some not-so-good stuff, and some good stuff:

    Position Info

Let’s start with the not-so-good stuff:

    1. This is an in-person position. We need you to be here between 9 am – 5 pm each day. We can be a little flexible once you’ve gotten your feet under you. Maybe you like to start at 7 am? We can work with that, but there’s only so much flexibility with the hours.
    2. The work is repetitive and requires you to be on your feet. Maybe this is a dream come true for you, if so, that’s great.

Now let’s talk about the good stuff:

    1. Work where you live. Maybe you currently commute but your heart is in Sackville? We’re located in the Sackville Industrial Park, easily accessible on foot or by bicycle from downtown.

    2. The work is dynamic and fun. We are a small but mighty team and sometimes, we’re a little silly.

    3. We aren’t big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication, planning, and getting things done right the first go around.

    5. You will experience things, learn, grow, and make decisions on things that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do.

    6. After three months, you get health and dental insurance. And it’s yours forever!

    7. You can take the day off on your birthday. Paid. Yes, for real!

    8. We are a team that truly cares about each other, our community, and our customers.

    9. When you have questions, you will find the answers in videos we have prepared to help you, forms that standardize our processes, or a quick chat with anyone else on our team.

    Position Requirements

Let’s talk about the job requirements:

    1. You need to be the type person who gets joy out of getting things done. Important stuff. Necessary stuff, sometimes physically demanding stuff.

    2. You will be standing a lot. This job requires physical stamina and attention to detail. You play a key role in delivering quality skin care products to our customers.

    3. You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences to other people. You know, you need to be someone who feels good by making other people feel good.

    4. You need to nail down the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half way (we figured that one out ourselves). We need you to slow things down and get them done right.

    5. We want you to be meticulous in your work. If you are shy or quiet, that is totally cool. We are not looking for the life of the party…in fact, quite the opposite. We are looking for a good, fun person, who loves to check things off their to do list.

    6. You love making systems and you’re highly organized. You can break down your day into task orders that make sense. You understand that systems make everyone’s lives easier (including future you). You like spending a little more time upfront to create and internal system or resource that will allow the company to grow and scale effectively.

    7. You’ll need to be able to lift 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds from time to time.

Some specific things you’ll get to do:

    - Your job is to follow standardized recipes and create perfectly presented skin care products. That means accurately identifying, measuring, blending ingredients. It is also filling, pouring, labeling, capping and boxing finished products. You’ll maintain a clean, organized and sanitized work environment and wash the dishes when you’re done.

    - We have a casual work environment. We don’t expect perfection, but we do expect professionalism, punctuality, courteousness and communication. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get it done attitude.

    - You need to be the type of person who can work independently, with only infrequent guidance from time to time. We’re not going to feed you to the wolves, but within 90 days, you should be competently and confidently able to make any skin care product from start to finish.

    - Once you’re a pro, you’ll create, maintain, and modify SOP resources and systems and offer suggestions on how to improve processes.

    - Pick and pack customer orders. This may be one lip balm or it could be a pallet of products for an international customer. You will invoice the customer (we use QuickBooks) and process payments. You can accurately assemble the required items, pack it, and prepare logistical paperwork and shipping manifests.

    Details & How to Apply

If this is a job that gets you so excited that you would even do it for free, we would totally accept that offer from you. But if you prefer compensation (and we totally get it…we prefer getting paid as well) this is what we offer: This is an in person skin care product-making job. The pay is $18 an hour. This is a part-time position, 15-25 hours a week.

In addition to being a detailed person, you must follow systems and processes. In fact, just to prove that you are detailed oriented and can follow procedures, when you apply for this position, address your cover letter to April MacKinnon, P.Eng., and include the following sentence : “Anointment: the self-care skin care”. That’s our little trick to sort out the people who blanket send their resume to anyone and everyone, from the folks (that’s you) who are truly interested in this position.

We are looking to bring our new colleague on board as soon as possible, but we will spend the necessary time to find the best fit both in abilities and culturally. One thing that will give you a BIG leg up (but is optional) is to send a quick video in along with your resume. In your video tell us why you think you’re perfect for this job and why you will rock this position. This is purely for us to get a sense of your personality. And if you decide not to send a video (that’s ok), please tell us why you chose not to send in a video. We can’t wait to meet you!!!

The application deadline is September 20 at 11:59 pm Atlantic Time.
